| Customer Reviews: Don't trust the built-in level, but a very solid buy for the $$ August 4, 2010 MrRoy This mount was easy to use, stable enough to support the weight rated and was the least expensive mount for the size display it was designed for.
Just a couple of points. First, the level integrated was completely useless because the die cut into the steel in which it was mounted was not itself straight or parallel to the horizontal support in which it was embedded. However it was easy enough to flip the plastic part out and use it on the top edge of that rail. Also, the instructions were decent enough but with only a small area in which to lock down the mounting hardware onto the rails, it was hard to tighten the system up once mounted. I purchased a different unit a few months back which had more tilt than this one (30 degrees) giving even big hands an easier job tightening the installation. This complaint is not enough, though, to prevent me from buying another one just like this for the same price in the future, should I need another.
In short, it got the job done and after installing, none of the aforementioned issues will impact the day to day functionality.
Cheap, But It Works July 17, 2010 J. Holly (Detroit, MI) In regular stores, it's evident from a glance at large-screen TV accessories that they're top-heavy with markup. I hate paying fifty bucks for cables when I can go online and fine the same cables for $20 or less. Likewise with the wall mounts: a hundred-dollar price tag for only about twenty bucks worth of hardware. That's why I bought this: I just wanted something that would keep my cool new TV from getting knocked over by the kids.
THE GOOD:
- The low price is a fair value for what you get.
- Some of the included hardware was not too bad.
THE BAD:
- No instructions. (They do include a drawing of what the finished thing is supposed to look like, and you can pretty much tell from that which parts are supposed to go where.)
- Description says bubble level included, but where is it? (There was a slot in the wall mount body, and some jagged pieces of clear plastic at the bottom of the box. I'm guessing that that was the remains of the level, originally built into the wall mount itself. Which could have been handy, but unnecessary if you have your own basic tools.)
- Included hardware did not fit my TV. (TV mounting screws were too long. If you're installing a wall mount, see your TV owner's manual to make sure the screws you're using are the right size. Too short, and they won't hold up the TV. Too long, and you'll destroy the screen by punching holes through it from the backside.)
- Included hardware did not fit my wall. (The big lag screws were adequate if you're mounting directly to studs. If not, the included plastic anchors for mounting on drywall looked flimsy and untrustworthy for anything over 5 pounds. If you're mounting on drywall, plan on a trip to Home Depot.)
- Construction of the mount is only adequate. (It's just a powder-coated stamping of low-gauge steel. Sony recommends a mount that holds 4x the weight of the TV; this thing is only rated at about 3x. I chose to live with the lower margin of safety because once it's installed, there's not going to be any further stress on the mount: it's not like it has to flex or be cycled through additional loads. But I found myself wishing that the steel had been a little heavier gauge.)
OVERALL: It's not pretty, it's not great, but it gets the job done, and it's cheap. Better instructions and hardware would have been nice. Grade: C-minus.
Good solid set up, beware if you've never installed one before. June 26, 2010 Chris It was a very solid set up. I definitely wouldn't recommend this for someone who has never installed a flat panel mount before. The instructions are well... not very informative. No written instructions, just an "assembly" guide.

Bad instructions May 21, 2010 L. Salazar 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This wall mount would be ok but it had horrible instructions and the screws that it can with don't fit my TV. It can with all these different screws and washers but I didn't know what they went to because the instructions only have 1 picture and a list of parts but those labels didn't match what the part was labeled. I'll be returning this wall mount for one I know will be compatible with my TV!
